Nawim ******-e temenim sî-wû tswar sał e. |
|
My name is ******, I am 34 years old. |
| 2 |
Ṭeqrîbî yazde sał, lew dwazde sał detsî lêranem, le Mençistêr im. |
|
For about 11 or 12 years I have been living here in Manchester. |
| 3 |
O basî ḥefley xom dekem, ke katêk zewadzman kirdûwe legeł pyawekem. |
|
And I will tell you about my wedding, with my husband. |
| 4 |
Ewe bû bîdayet hat minî bînî le małî daykim. Paşan rrazî bûm. |
|
In the beginning he came to see me at my mother’s house. Then I consented. |
| 5 |
Şewekey paşan pyaw hatin bo temaşa kirdin û qise kirdin û teʕaruf kirdin yêktir nasîn. |
|
The following night the men came to see me, so we can talk and introduce ourselves and get to know each other. |
| 6 |
Ewe bû xîlalî ḥefṭeyêk dû ḥefṭe zewadzman kird. |
|
One or two weeks later we got married. |
| 7 |
Ḥeflekeşman, ême zîyatir le qaʕe-w şitî wa deykeyn. |
|
As for the wedding, we usually do it in a field or something similar. |
| 8 |
Xełk / xełçî lay qewmî jineke bang dekrê-w lay qewmî pyawekeş pêkewe hemûman pêkewe dadenişin. |
|
People, the people from the woman’s clan are invited and the people from the man’s clan are also there and we all sit together. |
| 9 |
Ḥefleye xwardin dexurê û şîrinatî dexurêtin û kurrekeş ew şitey ke le bo afretekey kirdîye weku zêrr, altûn, ew şitaney pêwe dekrêtin. |
|
At the wedding, we eat food and sweets, and the things that the man has bought for the woman, such as gold, those things are displayed. |
| 10 |
Û ṭeqrîben xîlalî sê saʕet tsar saʕetêk xełkeke be yêkewe dadenîşîtin û wekû teʕaruf kirdinekewe. |
|
And for about three or four hours the people sit together and it is like an introduction. |
| 11 |
Ṭewaw, duwayeke bûk û zawayeke deçin şar eselî xoyan deken û xełkekeş degerêtewe małî xoy. |
|
The wedding is over, then the bride and groom go to the city for their honeymoon and the people go back to their homes. |
| 12 |
Û paş ṭeqrîben sê roj tswar roj, indze afreteke dêtewe małî daykî. |
|
After about three or four days, the woman goes back to her mother’s house. |
| 13 |
Dayk û bawk û xizm û kesekanî debînîtin. |
|
She sees her mother and father and relatives. |
| 14 |
Ke ḥefteyêçî be ser da tsû, paşaneke iʕtîyadî ye hemû hatûtsûy yêktirî deken û wekû xizmeçyan lê dêtin legel yêktirya. |
|
When a week has passed, then it is normal, everybody visits each other and they become like relatives. |
| 15 |
Bes êsta zîyatir tetewûrî kirdîye, gorraye zewac wekû pêştir pêş de sal dwazde sal lewe pêş. Êsta tozek sehiltir e. |
|
But now it has changed a lot, compared to before, to ten or twelve years ago. Now it is a bit easier. |
| 16 |
Ew barqûrsîye nîye le bo pyawekey ke birên tozek zeḥmetî bikatin. |
|
There isn’t a heavy load for the man anymore, which would make it difficult for him. |
| 17 |
Zîyatir altûn û şitî wa lê nakrêtin. |
|
Not as much gold and things are displayed. |
| 18 |
Zîyatir małî dadenên. Her ewende ye zewadzekey lay ême. |
|
Instead, they set up a home. This is considered a wedding in our culture. |
| 19 |
Le naw ḥeflekeşa şayî dekrêtin, helperkê ye, goranî degûtrêtin û dans û reqs û şitî waleş dekrêtin, le naw ʕaîlekan. |
|
In the wedding ceremony, there is dancing and singing, for the families. |
| 20 |
Goşim gût ke paşan ke kurreke ḥelqey le destî kitseke dekatin û zêrrekanî ke lewê kirdîye altûnekanî pêwey dekatin. |
|
Afterwards, the boy puts the bracelet on the girl’s wrist and he hangs the gold that he brought on her. |
| 21 |
Be rrastî xoş e ḥefley layî ême. |
|
The wedding ceremonies in our culture are really nice. |
| 22 |
Ḥeta êsta ke cîyawazî durust bûwe le naw şarekey me, ke Hewlêr ke basî lê dekem. |
|
Until now, changes have happened in our city, it is Hawler [Erbil] that I am talking about. |
| 23 |
Pêştir hewlêr bitsûk bû. Êsta gewre bûwe, xanû-w şitî zor zor zexm û xoşî lê kiraye bîna. |
|
Before, Hawler was small. Now it has become large, very big houses and such things have been built. |
| 24 |
Ḥeta zorbey şerîkatekan wekû berrîtanî ałmanî ewane hemûy hatîn le wêy xanûy durust deken, house. |
|
Even companies, British and German, they have all come and they are building houses. |
| 25 |
Xanûwekanyan yaʕnî durust deken, le ser ʕadet û teqalidî Êrane, wekû wekû Mançistir, wekû Ałmanya. |
|
They built houses copying the customs and style of their homes, like they are in Manchester, like in Germany. |
| 26 |
Ewe durustî deken lewê lo xełkekey. |
|
They built them for the people. |
| 27 |
Êsta jîyaneke zîyad tetewurî kirdîye, xełkeke zîyatir be îş û kar û kasibîwe mejẋûltir e. Wekû pêştir nîye. |
|
Now life has changed a lot, the people are mostly busy with work and other occupations. It isn’t like before. |
| 28 |
Û êstaş xełkekey kurdustanman zor rrûy le ziman kirdîye, language. |
|
Now our people in Kurdistan are also very interested in language. |
| 29 |
Zîyatir wa hez de/ yaʕnî bîr dekenewe ke derz bixwênin, nek her wekû pêştir ummî bin le małewe dabinîşin êsta ne. |
|
They mostly think about studying, not like before when they stayed at home, not anymore. |
| 30 |
Êsta zîyatir rrûyan le dîraset û duktûra macêster û ew şitane kirdûwe. |
|
Now they are more interested in studying and doctorates, Masters degrees and such things. |
| 31 |
Yanî êsta bilfeʕl xełkeke tozek gorraye, miseqaf bûye, wekû pêştir nemaye. |
|
That is, now the people changed what they do, they have become more cultured, they have not stayed the same as they were. |
